Why it is important for parents to practice 'pausing'

The word pause means temporary stop or rest. It is recommended that parents use the holiday season to slow down and stop pushing children.

Pausing is quite different to an abrupt halt which causes parents to lose momentum.

Parenting expert Nikki Bush says that during the holiday season regular routine falls away, an opportunity for parents to observe and watch their children and really get to know them better.

It is about getting out of your normal routine slowing down and doing the things you wouldn’t normally do
