Is the rainbow nation idea fading?

The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation has released the Reconciliation Barometer, which looks at whether Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela's ideals have been realised.

Redi Tlhabi on Wednesday invited 702 and CapeTalk listeners to share their views on whether race relations are improving or deteriorating.

Listen to the conversation below:

Race relations in terms of black and white are improving... There's a lot of effort being put in from the other side - white people trying to prove they can live together with black people...

Juliet, caller from Rivonia

My concern is if there's any wrongdoing or criminality, I'm not surprised if it's a person of colour, but I feel betrayed if it's a white person because I feel like they're letting things down...

Jean, caller from Rivonia
