Did Nene's stance on Airbus and nuclear deals lead to his downfall?

Editor of SA Flyer magazine, Guy Leitch said on Thursday that President Zuma has put South African Airways (SAA) on the line to protect chairperson Dudu Myeni.

This comes after former finance minister Nhanhla Nene was recalled from his portfolio, a week after he had issued a stern warning to the board of SAA over the controversial Airbus deal.

It is extraordinary that President Zuma presumably fired Nene over this Airbus deal.

Meanwhile, others have speculated that Nene was removed for his democratic stance on the proposed nuclear build programme.

Energy expert Chris Yelland said Nene had insisted on due process and fair, transparent planning.

He had kind of been putting the brakes on the nuclear deal and insisting on financial due process and transparent planning.
