What to expect as Generations comes back on air tonight

After two months off air, tonight popular South African soapie Generations returns to prime time television!

Jared Orlin attended the preview of the first episode of the new version of the soapie which was re-written after 16 primary anchors were sacked by Executive Producer Mfundi Vundla in August this year.

Speaking to 702 after firing the entire principal cast of Generations, Mvundla said that the actors could be replaced and the soapie would not suffer because they were gone.

We have accepted their refusal to perform services to Generations, and given that we are terminating their economic relationship with the series. We have plans to continue with Generations and Generations lives, there were actors before and there will be actors in the future. Generations will go on with or without these people.

Generations Executive Producer, Mfundi Mvundla

At the press conference this morning, Mvundla revealed that when the Generations strike was going on Connie Ferguson, who plays Karabo in the new version, approached him offering to make a return to the show if he needed her.

Speaking to 702, Orlin reveals that the show has a very different look and feel from the previous version of Generations and warns viewers to give themselves time to percolate, especially if they're averse to change.

The first episode of the show kicks off two years into the future, starting with a tombstone unveiling of the long deceased Paul Moroka. He says the series has a mass of drama, that should keep audiences captivated tonight.

It looks very slick, very glamorous, very glossy. You will be introduced to what will probably be the central family here, which is still the Moroka's - that is the legacy of Generations. They've managed to tie it in [with the new name] Generations:The Legacy... It seems as if it all centres around the Moroka family, but from what we have seen so far it looks like it's going to be pretty good.
