Vavi speaks out on selfless struggle and career politicians

Former Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi has been absent from active politics for a while, but he remains a force in general South African politics.

702 and CapeTalk presenter Gushwell Brooks on Wednesday spoke to Vavi about the state of affairs in the country.

Listen to the conversation below:

We (Cosatu) became uncomfortable even in the first year of the government led by the president (Jacob Zuma) and we penned a paper in August 2010 titled The Alliance At Crossroads...

Zwelinzima Vavi, former Cosatu general secretary

We (Cosatu) said there is a new danger - the rise of the tenderpreneurship... We were talking about the corrupt people who were using their political connections to win tenders when they had no capacity

Zwelinzima Vavi, former Cosatu general secretary
