Road death stats: Harsher sentences proposed for offenders

Transport Minister Dipuo Peter on Monday released road death stats for the festive season (1 December 2015 to 11 January 2016) at a media briefing.

The statistics show a 14% increase in road deaths (to 1755) and an 11% increase in car crashes (to 1253).

702/ CapeTalk's Stephen Grootes on Tuesday explored these stats and the harsher sentencing for offenders, that has been proposed thereof.
