'Mbeki omitted important details in his letter' - Ranjeni Munusamy

Ranjeni Munusamy says former president Thabo Mbeki, ommited important details in his version of events regarding an alleged plot to topple him.

702 and Cape Talk's Redi Tlhabi on Wednesday spoke to Daily Maverick associate editor Ranjeni Munusamy regarding the issue.

Listen to the conversation below:

I think that former president Mbeki, in deciding to recount the whole episode and giving his version, missed out on parts of the story.

Ranjeni Munusamy, Daily Maverick associate editor

I suppose that former president Mbeki does need to clarify certain things but I don't think he can exonerate himself from the issue.

Ranjeni Munusamy, Daily Maverick associate editor

He himself was interviewed by e.tv, and he said it was a conspiratorial thing and he basically gave credence to these allegations that there was a plot to oust him.

Ranjeni Munusamy, Daily Maverick associate editor

It's a bit strange that he left two missing links of the story which gives context to it.

The letter created the impression that he was a spectator in the process whereas he met this person making the allegation as president of the republic.
