A number of motorists have lamented the long queues at licencing centres across Cape Town.
The City's Greg Martin on Thursday said that the backlog comes after renewal notices weren't sent out by the Road Traffic Management Corporation.
The most inundated centres are Fish Hoek, Civic Centre, Pinelands, Plumstead, Goodwood and Milnerton.
According to Martin, the city has allowed motorist to forgo application forms and has enlisted additional staff.
