Man looking for work, makes a difference

On Thursday, 4 December on the Pippa Hudson show, listener Shaun phoned in during the Lead SA diary to add a mention of someone who went the extra mile…or in this case, an extra 15km.

Sibongile, a resident of Khayelitsha, originally from George, was on the road seeking work when a courier truck drove past him at speed. A box fell off the truck and Sibongile picked it up. He tried to flag down the driver but it was too late – he had already driven away. Sibongile then spent the rest of the day trying to track down the company to alert them to the fact that he had their box – knowing that somewhere, a customer was waiting for its delivery. With his airtime running out, he walked for hours from place to place, trying to locate the courier company. Eventually someone helped him make the call which connected Shaun with his missing box.

Shaun rewarded Sibongile with the contents of his wallet, but more than anything, Sibongile would love a job – he has a code 10 PDP licence but is willing to do any sort of work.
