Metrorail train services withdrawn between Nyanga and Khayelitsha over vandalism

Train services have been suspended between Nyanga and Khayelitsha after residents vandalised Metrorail infrastructure.

Metrorail's Richard Walker on Friday alleged that infrastucture was set alight and vandalised in response to a police raid in a nearby community.

It's not safe for us to operate service and there are ongoing protests in the area.

In the intrest of saftey, we've had to suspend services. This has had a huge impact on th volumes of commuters who travel from that area.
