Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pando on Monday announced that the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will look at a new funding model to give loans to students who do not currently qualify.
NSFAS Spokesperson Kagisho Mamabolo says the scheme has conducted research and will develop a programme to address funding for the so-called "missing middle".
The issue of funding affects almost everyone in the system. Currently the scheme looks into those that come from lower income households.— Kagisho Mamabolo, Spokesperson for NSFAS
