The validity of a so-called "World Passport" has come into question after the arrest of United States hip hop star and actor Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def).
Bey was arrested at Cape Town International Airport last week, where the passport he was using was rejected by authorities.
Immigration expert Julian Okroy says he has never heard of such a document in his 30 years of work in the field.
Okroy advised that Bey can apply to the American Embassy in Cape Town to issue him with an American passport to leave South Africa.
