At what age should parents start disciplining children?

Children do not instinctively know what is acceptable and what is not. It is the parents duty to instill good behaviour in them.

According to Dr Dereck Jackson, an educational psychologist, parents should start with discipline the day a child becomes mobile (crawling) and naughty.

Discipline is the process of teaching a child what kind of behaviour is acceptable and what is not.

Listen to the full conversation on The Redi Tlhabi Show:

Our children need discipline because those who lack it are much more difficult to manage and are in greater risk of getting into trouble both in childhood and later in life.
