At least 6000 delegates have gathered at the African Mining Indaba in Cape Town, to discuss plans for the South African mining sector.
Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane says he is confident that the industry can be revived.
According to EWN's Rahima Essop, Zwane said the conference takes place when the mining industry faces difficult times, described as its "winter season."
