2nd Chance empowers thousands of people of all ages with the knowledge, tools and life skills they require to save themselves and their loved ones from the pain and destruction of wrong choices.
Their aim is to decrease the rate of child abuse, crime, rape, HIV infection, gangsterism, drug addiction, alcohol abuse and unnecessary deaths in South Africa.
CapeTalk and 702's Gugu Mhlungu, standing in for Redi Tlhabi, on Thursday spoke to 2nd Chance's founder and programme director Jarryd Smith about their work and what they hope to achieve.
Listen to the conversation below:
My heart's desire was to inspire others to be the best they can be and to make good choices in life, and get them to think how one second can change your life forever.— Jarryd Smith, 2nd Chance founder and programme director
The most important thing is that they wanna know you relate to them. They wanna know you understand their struggle and what they are going through in their life. So, it's more about us being relateable to them, and get them to think how one second changes their future.— Jarryd Smith, 2nd Chance founder and programme director
Our biggest passion is to prevent. We try equip and educate so they wouldn't go down that road.— Jarryd Smith, 2nd Chance founder and programme director
