Metro cop killed in front of his son

A metro police officer was killed at his home in Eerste River on Monday afternoon.

The 53-year-old Constable Ben Koopman had served the police service for 14 years before he was shot and killed. According to eye witnesses on the scene, he was killed while his one son was present – having seen the whole thing.

He leaves behind three children and a wife.

John Maytham (standing in for Kieno Kammies) on Tuesday spoke to Robbie Roberts, the director of the War Room and law enforcement in the City of Cape Town, about this horrific story.
