Pregnant women in SA are advised to avoid travelling to Zika affected countries

The Department of Health has been carefully monitoring the outbreak of the Zika virus in Brazil and other affected countries.

According to the Spokesperson for Minister of Health, Joe Maila the department has developed action plan to prevent the introduction and spread of Zika virus into the country.

Maila said that part of the plan is to disinfect aircrafts that fly internationally upon arrival in the country.

We are also saying to pregnant women that if you know a particular country is suspected to have Zika virus, if the travel is not extremely essential, it is better to delay the trip
