Tlokwe: IEC holds Electoral Court decision 'in high regard'

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) cancelled all the by-elections that were scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

This followed an electoral court ruling that by-elections in Tlokwe could not go ahead because the voters roll for that election was not complete and did not include the addresses of potential voters.

Stephen Grootes on Thursday spoke to the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer at IEC, Sy Mamabolo, about the developments in this matter.

We find the electoral court to be an important factor of the architecture of the electoral democratic system in our country. We hold its decision in high regard.
