The woman accused of kidnapping Zephany Nurse took the stand in the Western Cape High Court on Monday and testified that she thought she was legally adopting the child.
According to EWN's Shamiela Fisher, the woman told the court of her previous fertility issues and how she apparently met a woman, Sylvia, who she claims facilitated the adoption of Nurse in 1997.
Fisher said the accused provided no evidence or documents to prove to the court that she had paid for the alleged adoption procedure, adding that the case has been postponed to Monday for cross-examination.
