The Friday Stand-In 2016

Ndumiso Ngcobo on enjoying his #FridayStandIn experience

Humorous and insightful writer and author, Ndumiso Ngcobo has proven to be more than just a scribe. He happens to also be a skillful conversation-starter and natural talk radio host.

Ndumiso is the 11 March Friday Stand-In on the Redi Tlhabi Show, in the absence of talk radio queen, Redi.

He maintained his cool from the moment he arrived - 2 hours before the show - to prep for the show this morning.

Earlier this week, he told Redi that he looked forward to the unpredictable Open Line.

Then the lines were opened.... and what came out was a mixed bag of emotions about the Chris Hani case, that sees the imminent release of one of Chris Hani's killers, Janusz Walus on parole:

Ndumiso then moved on to a really fascinating subject on identity. In his words:

I must say I have been thoroughly enjoying the conversations we've been having.'

To end this incredible Friday Stand-In experience, Ndumiso Ngcobo starts a crazy conversation about cheating on your hairdresser, dentist or other service provider with another... true to his quirky style of thinking.

What a show!!! Twitterville also agrees...

During the last hour of the show, Ndumiso talked about cheating on his barber, and asked if people have had the same experience of cheating on their service providers.

As a parting shot, here's what Ndumiso thought of the experience:

On her return to reclaim her throne, queen Redi spoke to Ndumiso Ngcobo to reflect on his stand-in experience.

I enjoyed all of it - from the first word I said til the end. Predictably, I enjoyed the open line and not knowing what the next caller will call about. As it so happened most callers wanted to talk about the release of Janusz Walus (Chris Hani's killer), which so happened to be something I was extremely passionate about. The conversation at the end about cheating on your barber or cheating on your hairdresser was also a lot of fun.
