Homeless man given shelter and permanent job after Facebook post goes viral

Siyabulela 'Dan' Magobiyane was a homeless man who devoted his time to keeping the beaches on the Atlantic Seaboard in pristine condition everyday. Until entrepreneur Jay Margolis helped him secure shelter and employment after posting the touching story on his Facebook page.

Since becoming an online sensation, Magobiyane has been given refuge at the Haven Night Shelter in Green Point, and local rubble removal company Cape Skip has offered him a permanent job.

Dan got placed at the shelter for the indefinite future. So he's there for three to six months with them, helping him to transition from life on the streets to a more active role in society.

Jay Margolis, entrepreneur

He's going to be an assistant driver and the good news is that Cape Skip is very committed to up-skilling him, so he won't remain in the cycle of unskilled labour. They want to get him a drivers licence, his own truck and take him with on their growth plans.
