Mbongo explained the nominations process to Pippa Hudson saying that at the beginning an invite is sent to everyone to apply, there after the Zabalaza team spends about 3 months visiting the productions.
Some of the productions, which participated in the first round, get invited to perform at a Mini festival organized by the Zabalaza team. After the Mini Festival, some productions get nominated for the main Zabalaza festival.
