EWN reporter Lauren Isaacs spent the day at the Wynberg magistrates's Court On Friday as two of Cape Town's recent rape cases appeared on the docket. She spoke to Mike Wills about what happened.
In the appearance of the four men accused in the Franziska Blochliger rape and murder, all four have now been charged with rape, murder and robbery. The case was postponed until 5 April for the start of the formal bail application.
They stood and stared blankly at the Magistrate. As they were lead down the packed court shouted and screamed at them that they do not want them back in the Westlake community.— Lauren Isaacs, EWN Reporter
The second case in the same court on this day was that of the man accused of raping women around the UCT Rhodes Memorial area. Isaacs says the accused has abandoned his bail application, and the case has been postponed until 17 May for further investigation.
He appeared almost annoyed and stood dead still with his hands clasped behind his back, showing no other emotion.— Lauren Isaacs, EWN Reporter
