Moms of addicts come together and help each other - and their community

After her fight with her late son’s struggle with drug addiction, Venetia Orgill thought she could also help other parents in a similar situation by starting the NGO.

I was a very broken woman and mother and started a support group.

Venetia Orgill, Discover Your Power

She began an organisation 11 years ago called Discover Your Power, aimed at bringing mother's of children with substance abuse problems, together.

They help drug addict children find treatment in rehab centres and assist the moms to gain back their power.

She says people sometimes wonder why she puts so much effort onto others when she has had so many problems of her own.

A pain shared is half the pain. We meet each other half way and share each other's pain.

Venetia Orgill, Discover Your Power

They are now a registered Non Profit Organsation and are working hard to raise funds to continue there work feeding the homeless and the hungry on the Cape Flats.

Find Discover Your Power on Facebook.
