Should male and female tennis stars earn the same pay?

World number one Novak Djokovic believes men should be awarded more prize money than women. This has sparked a row in world tennis. Africa Melane asked Sport Scientist Dr Ross Tucker what he thought.

He explained that right now in the male tennis is dominating the world stage. But this has not always been the case. A decade ago female tennis stars where making big news. So right now commercial sponsorship is favouring men.

So right now the economic market does lean more towards men, so you can sort of see where Djokovic is coming from. But its not necessarily justified to say that is the reason men should be paid more than women.
