Should SA's cities copy Amsterdam in having 'Night Mayors'?

Mirik Milan is the first nachtburgemeester or 'night mayor' of Amsterdam. His role as the night mayor is to bridge the gap between night businesses, residents, and City Hall and manage and improve relations among all these groups.

While the daytime politicians are fast asleep, the 35 years old Milan minds his metropolis of Amsterdam.

This is a concept which is now being copied across Europe (Toulouse, Zurich, Paris) as well as several cities internationally.

We give advice to the Mayor of Amsterdam and to the City Council about what is important to keep Amsterdam’s night life vibrant.
