The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) will have a three-day meeting starting on Friday to discuss the local government elections results, governance issues and plans to initiate a process of broader engagement with society.
Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, Policy and Political Analyst at the University of Pretoria, says the ANC has so many contentious issues that it needs deal with, and they have dealt with them in an incoherent manner.
He likened the situation in the party to a multi-headed monster where each head says whatever comes to mind.
