In an Instagram post, Actress Enhle Mlotshwe broke the silence about the racial abuse she received on set while filming Afrikaans soap opera 7de Laan.
Her character, Nandi, is involved in an interracial relationship and the romance was slammed by many on social media after the couple’s first on-air kiss.
Mlotshwe says she anticipated the racial slurs from viewers but was surprised by offensive comments from the cast and crew.
The SABC has instructed 7de Laan’s production company to investigate the claims of racial abuse on set.
ZAlebs entertainment journalist Tinashe Venge says although interracial relationships are not new to South African small screens, internet users can't resist making inflammatory remarks.
