SABC's irregular expenditure of R5 billion revealed

According to Stefan Hofstatter, an investigative journalist at the Sunday Times, the newspaper is in possession of the final management report from the auditor general which looks at why the SABC got a qualified audit.

He says it was found there was an irregular expenditure of R5 billion which resulted in the public broadcaster receiving a qualified audit.

He added, CEO James Aguma made his entire presentation on the SABC's financial statements and quoted many factors which resulted in the loss. But he never once mentioned that there was R5 billion in irregular expenditure.

He basically pumped up all the things he considered positive and even those that are highly questionable and you don't mention a R5 billion hole.

The situation that James Aguma painted is at odds with the facts.
