ANC reaffirms support for Zuma after NWC extended meeting

The African National Congress (ANC) reaffirmed its support for President Jacob Zuma, following an extended national working committee (NWC) meeting on Monday.

The party's Secretary-General Gwede Mantashe says the ANC welcomes the Constitutional Court judgement which found that Zuma broke his oath of office in the Nkandla matter.

Mantashe says the ANC respects the court ruling, adding that the NWC is "quite happy" with what he calls the President's humble apology.

There are no questions. That is what we mean by the (matter) being closed. The Constitutional Court is the final arbiter on areas of disagreement.

Meanwhile, ANC Gauteng deputy chairperson David Makhura had different views, questioning the fundamental issues within the party.
