The Guptas have allegedly fled South Africa for Dubai amid tensions over state capture allegations.
City Press editor Ferial Haffajee says that the move is in an effort to protect President Jacob Zuma and secure the African National Congress (ANC) election campaign.
On Thursday night, two key members of the family, Atul and Ajay, left on a private jet after resigning as co-chairs of their company Oakbay Investments.
It is reported that the family decided to leave after major banks closed the accounts linked to their investment companies.

Haffajee says the family's sponsor companies on the JSE also terminated their relationship with them.
