"Unlicenced" Uber taxis impounded

Taxi company Uber has seen 33 of its vehicles impounded at the weekend after it was discovered the drivers did not have the necessary documentation.

It is alleged that Uber owners are letting their friends to operate as cab drivers.

Uber has come under fire for its New Year’s Eve price surge, where some users had to fork out 14 times the normal amount to use the service.

But Uber says there is a bottleneck in the licencing procedure, but they are trying to work their way through that.
