National Assembly speaker Baleka Mbete will apparently consider running for African National Congress (ANC) Presidency in 2017.
Political analyst Sipho Seepe says Mbete's presidential ambitions could come true.
It's most likely. She's the Chairperson of the ANC, so she's part of the top six. If one has any ambitions, it's to go up. The possibility of a woman going up has been gaining ground.— Prof. Sipho Seepe, political analyst
Other names touted for the role include Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Seepe says it's about time that women begin to present themselves for leadership roles, and believes South Africans would receive her campaign well.
