KZN ANC 'worried' about comrades calling for Zuma to step down

The landmark Constitutional Court judgement on Nkandla has sparked calls from within the African National Congress (ANC) and outside, for President Jacob Zuma to step down.

The ANC branch in KwaZulu-Natal says it gives full support to Zuma, despite the ruling and strong criticism from the party’s Gauteng leadership, as well as other stalwarts.

KZN ANC spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli says the provincial structure is reaffirming the national position on the matter.

The organisation, at a national level, has taken a decision on how to respond to the ConCourt judgment and President Zuma's apology...

According to Ntuli, the Gauteng ANC's views do not coincide with the national stance on supporting Zuma.

He says it is problematic that the Gauteng branch publicise its concerns, instead of taking internal steps of engagement, in order to maintain party coherence.
