83 children of Simondium Primary received a gift of new school shoes

While driving past Simondium Primary School in Paarl, Chris Mauerberger of the Podlashuk Bellinchamp National Heritage Foundation Trust, noticed that some of the school children were walking home barefoot.

He then decided to contact the principal, who in turn provided him with a list of 83 children and their shoe sizes.

Mauerberger also contacted The Little Slipper Company in Port Elizabeth to request a quote, but he was surprised to hear that the company was willing to provide 83 pair for free as part of their social responsibility.

With the help of Elsa Post, from Postnet Franschhoek, the Podlashuk Bellinchamp National Heritage Foundation Trust was able to present 83 children from Simondium Primary with their shoes.

Elsa described the event of handing the shoes to the children as a remarkable experience.
