Metrorail management has asked Cape Town commuters to be patient amid ongoing delays, particularly on the Northern and Central lines.
We will make sure everyone is transported, but it's just going to be much slower than what it is when we have our full service running.— Richard Walker, regional manager at Metrorail
Train services across the city were thrown into disarray last week after a spate of arson attacks, incidents of vandalism and intimidation of train crew.
According to Metrorail Regional Manager Richard Walker, the attack on rail infrastructure is linked to a criminal element in an illegal strike by Satawu affiliated workers.
He says that the limited train services will result in overcrowding at stations and delays.
Additional MyCiti buses have also been dispatched to assist commuters at this time.
