Gavin Rajah's brand could be hurt by his 'copycat' ways, says fashion writer

Fashion designer Gavin Rajah's brand will no doubt take another hit following fresh allegations of design plagiarism.

Fashion writer and creative, Mahlatse James, says Rajah has been accused of ripping off designs for years.

He says that it's about time the public question Rajah's contribution to the fashion industry, and his credibility.

According to James, there's a very fine line between referencing a concept and blatantly replicating it.

Listen to the full conversation from The Midday Report with Stephen Grootes:

Rajah is no stranger to the accusations, but what has surprised the South African public is his alleged reaction to the fresh claims.

Rajah apparently threatened the designer who accused him of stealing her collection designs.

New York-based designer Chelsea Liu called the local designer out for his alleged plagiarism in a recent Facebook post.

Days after her initial post, Liu shared a screenshot of an email to her husband, which appears to be from Rajah himself.

In it, he apparently threatens to have the Asian-American deported by the US authorities, if she doesn't remove the "malicious" posts.

Twitterverse wasted no time, and has fired back at Rajah for the alleged threats and unoriginal creations.
