Entrepreneur Corner on The Redi Tlhabi Show today is Kwanele Boltina, a rising star in the auctioneering sector. He is one of the very few young black auctioneers in the field.
Along with his training in auctioneering he has further training in the Fine Art industry. He is the business director of Riley Auctioneers, a fully empowered (Level 1 BBBEE) Auction house.
Boltina is qualified chemical engineer, but he says he realised he was meant to be on a different path.
In life we all have a journey to travel, we all have goals and ambitions. Engineering for me was just a norm...one;s family often determines that route,,,but after my travels, I realised my passion is actually sales, its marketing and selling,,,and these are all encompassed in auctioneering.— Kwanele Boltina, Business Director, Riley Auctioneers
And seeing auctioneering was a predominantly white industry, i saw a gap and though let me seize this opportunity.— Kwanele Boltina, Business Director, Riley Auctioneers
Boltina says if you keen on entering the auction industry, you need to have good business acumen, be a people person, be good with numbers, and be able to sell.
Never take on a matter you can't sell.— Kwanele Boltina, Business Director, Riley Auctioneers
