YoungstaCPT's honest salute through rap

Cape Town based YoungstaCPT is a rapper whose music is shaped by his honesty which pushes through his catchy and distinctive sound.

I'm always going to be a student of life. I'm always going to be learning

YoungstaCPT, rapper

Introduced to music played at his home as a child, YoungstaCPT recorded his first rap song when he was aged 12.

I recorded my first song in one take!

YoungstaCPT says it was the process of recording his first song which convinced him that rap is his calling, and that he would become a full-time rapper.

He spent his teenage years learning more about the technicalities of the genre, before his full-time rap career finally began after he completed his matric.

I like to touch on those kind of subjects that go on in our communities because its relevant. We're living in South Africa. Things are not peaches and cream here. The world is in a crazy state

YoungstaCPT, rapper

Although known for his catchy beats and choruses, YoungstaCPT's music is synonymous with hard-hitting and honest themes.

He considers himself as someone who captures what goes on in communities, and reflects these with his lived experiences through his music.

If I just tell my story honestly, and not divert from the truth at all, then I could have the kind of impact Tupac, Slim Shady, Red Man or Snoop Dogg had on me, because I feel they always gave themselves very honestly
