Appletiser is celebrating 50 years on the market and bringing life back to the popular refrain 'local is lekker'.
The proudly South African brand was founded on Cape Town's doorstep by French-Italian immigrant Edmond Lombardi at the Elgin Valley in 1966.
Appletiser Marketing executive Andrea Shuttleworth explains that Lombardi was an apple farmer with a vision to create a crisp non-alcoholic champagne.
After the first product hit the shelves half a century ago the brand has expanded and been exported across the world.
Sold in 22 countries, Shuttleworth believes that Appletiser remains unique amid competition because of its strong history.
Appletiser is unique in the category because it has the heritage and provenance, being a 50-year-old brand. People have grown up with it...they just trust is and know that its a quality brand.— Andrea Shuttleworth, Appletiser Marketing executive
