Cadi de Jaager was diagnosed with Rathke’s Cleft cyst a couple of years ago. This is a non-cancerous growth that had formed on her pituitary gland under her brain, causing her growth to be stunted.
Now cured after successful brain surgery , the 9 year old decided to raise funds for Red Cross Children's Hospital as a thank you for the wonderful care she received there.
Cadi astounded John Maytham with her use of medical terminology related to all things neurological. She says it is from spending so much time with doctors during her treatment.
It was Cadi's idea to raise money for the red Cross Children's Hospital. She wanted to do something meaningful to repay all the kindness and care she received from the doctors and nurses there.
I just want to give back to them.— Cadi
She helped organise a poytjiekos event and raised a total of R20 000.
