Sanitary pads and other hygiene products are not a luxury afforded to every girl in the country.
This is what moved 12-year-old Daniella Zinanni to officially start her Bhabhathane Butterfly Foundation this year.
The Grade 6 Elkanah House learner says that she wants to help other girls grow by making sure they are able to stay in school during their monthly cycle.
So far, the project has put together nearly 500 sanitary packs to help young girls at schools such as Sophakama Primary in Dunoon.
She spends a lot of time researching and making contact with organisations, planning fundraisers, and canvassing for corporate donations and sponsorship.
Recognising her impactful and inspiring work, Daniella has been nominated for an International Children's Peace Prize.
She explains the journey of her great initiative and thanks her principal and family for all the support.
