Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula says federations don't give enough opportunities, coaching, access and support to black communities.
Mbalula says government has built cricket playgrounds in Soweto but were never utilised.
Speaking at a special debate hosted by 702, looking at transformation in sport, Mbalula said it's the federations' responsibility to transform sports in South Africa.
You can never become a cricketer and excel being black, and not given the opportunity. Who gives those opportunities? It's them, it's the coaching.— Fikile Mbalula, Sports Minister
We said to them transform, it's a moral obligation of us all to transform sports.— Fikile Mbalula, Sports Minister
Mbalula was responding to Greg Fredericks, Lions Cricket CEO, who said there are no black schools that players can go to perform.
