Quintessential Cape Town: Brad's Grill going strong after 40 years

Family style restaurant, Brad's Grill, has been around for 40 years. Founder and owner Brad Steele known as 'The Pepper Steak Man', chats to Kieno Kammies about this long running iconic Harfield Village eatery.

While at school, Steele worked as a waiter at restaurants, and it got into his blood he says.

His brother helped him buy his first restaurant in 1976.

"I knew I was going to be in it for the long run."

And it certainly became his life passion.

He says the secret of Brad's Grill success and longevity is practice, listening to people, and a hands on approach.

"I learn every day."

Brad's Grill is famous for great steaks. Steele has won awards for best pepper steak and top South Africa steakhouse for two years in a row, according to Cape Town magazine.

He says his motto is consistency.

I go in to work every day, and I enjoy it. Everyday for me is like an actor, appearing on stage, and meeting people.
