Muizenberg Bridge will hopefully not see vehicles stuck under it anymore.

10 June 2016 12:36 PM

Signs have not stopped trucks and buses getting stuck under the low bridge, but it is hoped a laser might end the traffic drama.

A picture search for Muizenberg Bridge will show a good few that look like this.

Or this

According to the City of Cape Town it happens almost once a week.

A new laser detection system will check the height of trucks and buses and warn them that they will not fit. It is hoped the drivers avoiding the bridge will justify the R300 000 bill and if it does, a similar system will be installed for the other side of the bridge.

A truck or vehicle crashes into or gets stuck under this bridge about once a week despite the numerous signboards along Main Road and Atlantic Road warning drivers of the 2,5 m height restriction ahead
