Malawi floods - South Africa responds

Heavy rains have claimed 200 lives and displaced thousands. Rescue teams from the UN and South Africa are rushing to assist those still stranded with food and access to sanitation.

Rescue SA thanks to a grant from Old Mutual are heading to the worst hit areas to help with the rescue efforts.

While this is Malawi's rainy season the heavy rains and forecast for more have stretched the country's ability to respond. The UN's World Food Program and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) are also on the ground to help.

A contingent of South African media including EWN will also be travelling to Malawi to cover the unfolding rescue mission.
