Maths education professor Mamokgethi Phakeng to hit our airwaves

Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng has for some time been Vice Principal of Research and Innovation at Unisa. She recently announced via Instagram that from 1 July she will officially take up her post as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research and Internationalisation at the University of Cape Town.

In 2002, Phakeng became the first black female South African to obtain a PhD in mathematics education and most recently she was awarded The Order of Ikhamanga (which recognises South African citizens who have excelled in the fields of arts, culture, literature, music, journalism and sport).
