Small Business Focus

Aspiring entrepreneur? Let these young start-ups inspire you!

Ray White (in for Bruce Whitfield on “The Money Show”) interviewed a panel of young entrepreneurs in the start-up phase for the weekly small business feature.

The business owners are on a programme with Start-up South Africa.

The Start-Up South Africa Trust is a registered NPO with a mandate to source, select and develop youthful (18-35 year old South Africans) start-up entrepreneurs.

Rosharon Morgan (31), Galel Training and Development

Our society has a shortage of skills and finance.

“We would like to reveal the option of practical skills such as welding, boiler operating, etc. These can be just as impactful and valuable as academic learning, and can uplift the community as well as create employment or entrepreneurship.”

Azael Langa (28), Moving Contemporary Art World

This start-up uses art as a medium of teaching, with a specific focus on children with learning challenges such as dyslexia.

Langa has exhibited locally and abroad, and has won numerous awards.

Ditiro Rantloane (34), The RANT Group

The start-up enables students to learn at their own pace with the use of audio.

Lerato Moselane (34), Code Crib

Moselane’ start-up addresses a recurring problem that we see every year when parents and matriculants enrol at institutions.

Matriculants usually come from all over the country and end up in long queues without knowing if they will get an entry or not.

The same applies for parents.

They spend a lot of money making calls to various schools to find out if there is space available for their children.
