High Court dismisses appeal to have Zuma's spy tapes charges dropped

The High Court in Pretoria has dismissed the court bid by President Jacob Zuma and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to appeal the reinstatement of so-called spy tapes charges.

This comes after the High Court ruled that the 2009 decision to withdraw fraud and corruption charges against Zuma was irrational.

The judges argued that there were no compelling reasons for the matter to be appealed, EWN's Barry Bateman reports.

Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba ruled that the applicants invented legal grounds by misinterpreting sections of the original ruling.

Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba says that, in its entirety, the ruling makes perfect sense.
