Heideveld High's star basketball player chosen to shoot hoops in the US

Budding basketball star, 18-year-old Ameer Abrahams has been selected to participate in a five-day training camp in Washington DC this July.

The Heideveld High School matric pupil will be showing off his ball skills at Point-Guard College in the US, where he hopes to be spotted by a talent scout.

They invited a lot of people from around the world, and I'm the only one from Africa who is going.

The camp tournament will take place from the 24 - 29 July and the coaches will help improve his game and performance.

At only 1.78 metres tall, Ameer started playing basketball 10 years ago and says that it has taught him team spirit, communication, perseverance and other important values.
